Bathroom lighting
Lighting is one of the most important aspects of bathroom design for disabled people. It is important that there is a sufficient amount of light in the area.
Here are a few bathroom lighting tips.

There are three main types of lighting in your bathroom.
General lighting | This will illuminate the entire bathroom. For this type of light you could use recessed lighting in the ceiling. Dimmable general lighting is good where the bathroom is used by everyone in the family, young or old, disabled or not.
Task Lighting | This can be crucial for those tasks such as shaving or applying makeup. Task lighting should be as bright as possible without dazzling or impairing your vision. A great way to improve task lighting is to choose a special illuminated vanity mirror.
Accent lighting | This is mainly for decorative effect and although is not specifically helpful for people with disabilities it does add to the ambience of the room and makes it more homely.

Upgrading or replacing your bathroom lighting doesn’t have to be complicated. It is a relatively simple project that can dramatically increase the functionality of the bathroom and really assist a disabled person.
Note: Advice must always be sought from a qualified electrician if you intend to make changes to bathroom lighting. The laws are strict and any installation must be made by a qualified person.
